Focus on our focus group

Focus group

A focus group is a great way to gain feedback and feelings about a certain product or service. It allows businesses to fix any issues their new offering might have before it’s released to the world.

Earlier this month we held a focus group for a brand new product that we’ve spent the past year developing. We wanted to obtain some useful information that could be used to better our service and make sure there was nothing missing that might be of value to future customers.

We’re super excited for this service to go live and for our customers (new and old) to try it out!

What we wanted to know

We wanted to know how people would use the service; would they interact with it as they would a tool that’s already on the market, or would they respond more like we had envisioned? Although our developers are still working hard to ensure the product is ready to go, we wanted to see if there were any key elements that were missing that might prevent someone from using it.

It was important for us to make sure we were covering everything we could during the focus group – after all, we only had a limited amount of time. We therefore made sure we were asking the ‘obvious’ questions as well as some that were more specific:

  1. How easy was it to sign up?
  2. Was there anything missing?
  3. What did they like?
  4. What didn’t they like?
  5. What could be improved?
  6. What was the user experience like?

These questions were designed to help us gain an understanding of how people would experience the product for the first time so we could make improvements based on their answers.

How will this help us make improvements?

Receiving feedback is the best way to improve your product; therefore we were excited for people to find ways to improve our system.

The feedback we were given was extremely helpful. We found out the ways in which our system was massively flawed, and where people were pleasantly surprised about how the service worked. Although we have a few (OK, maybe more than a few) issues and bugs to fix before it’s ready for the public, it was good to get an idea of what people thought and how they believed it would be used in the real world.

What we found really interesting were the issues and use cases people were mentioning that we hadn’t even thought of. It was great to hear from different perspectives and understand the logic behind their ideas.

Our next step will be to use this feedback to fix any issues and add features that are still in the pipeline before we go into our beta testing stage and finally introduce our service to you.

Want to know more?

Intrigued? We thought you might be! We’re currently in our Alpha testing stage so we’re not quite ready for the wider public to see what we’ve been working on yet, but if you’re interested in joining us for some Beta testing in a few weeks, just drop us an email and we’ll be in touch soon!
