Full Stack Developer

We’re looking for a talented, dynamic, and ambitious self-starter to join our innovative team; someone who is keen to learn and help take our products to the next level. This full time, permanent position is ideal for someone who has some experience writing clean, modular JavaScript, and who is looking to further their own career in a flexible and encouraging environment. We don’t put too much emphasis on job title, so while this position is listed as a ‘Full Stack Developer’, don’t feel that you need to match that title exactly to be able to apply.

The successful candidate will join as the third member of our existing development team, and will work to improve the look, feel, and usability of our existing products, as well as helping us build our next big product, Keero. Being a third of our development team means that you will have a big impact on the look and feel of our products, as well as a lot of autonomy to solve problems in whatever way you feel is best. We’re looking for someone who’s really willing to take ownership of their work, and who has the confidence to trust their judgement and take ideas and run with them.

You will need experience working with JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks (specifically React.js), a strong foundation of HTML and CSS, and to have experience working with RESTful APIs. Whilst not required, experience with TypeScript, document-oriented databases (such as MongoDB), and CSS preprocessors (such as Sass) would be beneficial. The ideal candidate will have a passionate interest in web technologies and web development, be keen to learn, and enjoy experimenting with new technologies, libraries, and frameworks.

Our office is located in Faraday Wharf (right next to Aston Uni), so we’re quite central and easy to get to. If you’re a coffee drinker, you’ll be pleased to know we’ve got a coffee machine that makes a mean espresso and, if you need a break, we’ve got a pool table and a few of our favourite card games (Exploding Kittens being the office favourite) that we’ll generally have a few games of a day. Alongside that, we all get together once a month to share some pizza or burritos, and once or twice a year we’ll have a relaxed afternoon out in town doing something like an escape room, then going for a drink and a bite to eat.

This is a fantastic opportunity for the right person. The autonomy you’ll have, alongside the support of the rest of the team, means that the you will really be able to develop your skills, learn with us, and shape what the future of our products look like.

Closing date for applications: 31st March 2019.
